NASA spent the '70s exploring the use of practical, reusable space transports. The Space Shuttle became the crowning achievement of this research. The first operational shuttle flight occurred in 1982 with Space Shuttle Columbia. After three memorable decades in space, the program's final flight will occur in June, 2011. Kit features a detailed space shuttle with a realistic fuel tank and booster rockets, a detailed opening cargo bay with optional payload assemblies, a display stand and decal markings for all six space shuttles (Enterprise, Columbia, Discovery, Endeavor, Challenger and Atlantis).
