The Heinkel He 178V-1 is one of the pioneering aircraft of the world. It became the very first aircraft in the world to fly powered solely by a jet engine. Hans von Ohain´s engine gave this diminutive metal-fuselage and wooden-wings aircraft speed of up to 650 km/h. Its first flight took place at the end of August 1939, on the eve of the Second World War.
